Eagerly awaiting the release of the third version of iPad due to be released next week, iPad and Apple enthusiasts alike behave similarly to circling buzzards over an almost breathless animal.

From nigh on approximately 2 months before Apple even makes an  announcement of an upcoming product release, Apple rumour sites and bloggers trigger and enliven discussion about almost all upcoming Apple devices. Notwithstanding many an active design conceptualist add their possible future candidates.

Kongregate, the youtube equivalent for online games

Kongregate is an entertaining casual gaming social network that hosts free online games and has more than 20,000 free games to play. The website is a place where gamers can gain ranking and earn awards.

Kongregate "allows developers to upload their games and share in revenues (25-50%) from the ads displayed around the games. Kongregate promotes developers to upload new games by having “game of the week” contests, and pays skilled developers between $20,000-80,000 to create premium games to provide their community with quality games. Each premium game comes with a free version that can be upgraded to paid premium version." via

The picture seen here is a snapshot of a game I persevered with until something else took my attention. Its a "click the mouse centric navigation style" of naive cartoon animations where you click handles, boulders and contraptions until you can make the penguin pilot exit from the game area. This precipitates the next level and so on and so forth. Click here to go directly to that game or go to the website, where you can choose from thousands of alternative interactive games.

To learn more about this gaming web portal, see Jim Greer CEO of Kongregate explain why he views his gaming platform as the youtube equivalent for online games. I imagine that there are likely to be, many tablet, ipad and smart-phone users enjoying themselves playing games at Kongregrate !

Entertaining iPad game, Spider: Bryce Mansion HD

Originally released for the iPhone in 2007, Spider: Bryce Mansion HD  is an interactive puzzle game where you explore an abandoned mansion as a tiny arachnid, building webs to trap insects, has just been updated to an iPad version.

As the player clinches the insect prey, I became subtly seduced by the overall cuteness of the interface and simple yet site specific sound-designs on each level.

The person playing the game in the video doesn't appear to be the most fastidious or co-ordinated of players yet the game would likely frustrate the best of players at higher levels. Nevertheless, Spider, appears to offer appreciably clever graphics and good entertainment if only harmless timeless value !

Spider: Bryce Manor HD, iPad version ($4.99 @ iTunes store), has an exclusive single device multiplayer game mode called Sidekicks, and whatever that means, is likely to heighten your enthusiasm for it.

The Protoss Star Formations, animation

is a short imagined astronomical 3D galactic star formation fly- though made by Matthias Müller for a sci-fi Starcraft 2 gaming video contest.

I recommend you watch this video in full screen mode to appreciate this beautifully conceptualised imaginary part of the universe.

Matthias Müller, created this cool animation using the following software tools:

3ds max, Fumefx, Particle flow + box#3, Krakatoa and composited it in After Effects.

Jane McGonigal believes Gaming can save the world.

Game designer Jane McGonigal from the Institute for the Future, reports in this video, that games like World of Warcraft give players the means to save worlds, and incentive to learn the habits of heroes. Here she asks; What if we could harness this gamer power to solve real-world problems ?

Her aim in this video is kind of metaphysical, she's attempting to push our thinking beyond the notion of winning the virtual Epic game, into game changing our approach to solving real world dilemmas, like global warming.

Awesome new Motion Controller from Razer & Sixense

CrunchGear tech reports about a new motion gaming controller that works similar to the Wiimote. The Razer Sixense,  is thought to be designed essentially for gamers to control a range of functions on their computers including moving around and controlling weapons.

"The scientists and engineers at the two companies have been working on developing the precise one-to-one motion sensing controllers that make use of electromagnetic fields to track movement along all six axes. The absolute position of the controller can be tracked to within one millimeter"

Phew, hey, with this degree of precision, to instantaneously determine position and orientation, its not difficult to envisage it appealing to many other types of maneuvering navigation skilling services applicable to space, aeronautics and defense ?
