Tom Shannon's hover and visionary sculpture
is concerned with astronomy and astronomical proportions, a deep reflection of the universe and how it works through proportional representations of the sun earth and moon.
Tom Shannon is perhaps best known for the magnetically levitated sculpture, pictured here. Using permanent magnets the sculpture hovers silently in the air and never loses altitude.
In the video below, he takes us on his journey from what he's achieved to what he hopes to achieve. On the TED stage, he demonstrates his prowess, finesse with sculptural form and understanding of physics and engineering through to his visionary architectural floating spherical video airship.

Heavily conceptualised futuristic holography enabled iPad
Eagerly awaiting the release of the third version of iPad due to be released next week, iPad and Apple enthusiasts alike behave similarly to circling buzzards over an almost breathless animal.
From nigh on approximately 2 months before Apple even makes an announcement of an upcoming product release, Apple rumour sites and bloggers trigger and enliven discussion about almost all upcoming Apple devices. Notwithstanding many an active design conceptualist add their possible future candidates.

Compressed 02, An Eerie media art composition
Kim Pimmel has created an ingenious motion graphic animation of soap bubbles being traced in with exotic ferrofluid liquid becoming attracted to an exotic spherical neodymium magnet.
Ferrous printer toner particles floating on the surface of water are attracted by the invisible forces of capillary action and magnetism around them, and the patterns and motions that result are strangely ordered and organized!
Kim achieved this by shooting some time lapse sequences with her Nikon D90, 60mm macro lens and custom built intervalometer, edited it with Adobe Premiere, and succinctly turned her video work into a groovy media art work by using a music composition application, Ableton Live.

Unreal magnetic Hoverboard technology inspires
Science can amaze, stupefy and astound us in sometimes profound ways as is the case of this stunning demonstration of what research scientists are calling quantum levitation.
The video here shows how its possible to lock a super cold object in mid air, suspending it and motivating it around without the object disengaging its position from its companion magnetic track !
Apparently, this cutting edge jaw dropping technology involves superconducting magnets, liquid nitrogen and an effect called flux pinning, or trapping.
This groovy video is courtesy of the Association of Science Technology Centers (ASTC), representing the science centre and museum field worldwide, in Tel Aviv, Israel.
